Bumps ahead...

Img_0433 Just when everything seems to be going smoothly, boulders crash into your path.  Our path is sleep, and the boulders are small white teeth erupting through my poor son's gums.  :-(   Sleep had been going really well for about two weeks now.  At around 7:15, after being nursed to a drowsy state, he would go down with minimal fuss (maybe 15-30 seconds of fussy noises), and then settle himself down to sleep and be out within minutes.  He would wake up every 3-4 hours to eat, but then go right back to sleep, keeping this pattern until he woke up for good at around 7:30am.  Our wonderful pattern came crashing to a halt last night, mainly because his teeth hurt him so bad he kept waking up every 30 minutes or so - and this is despite the infant drops (i.e.drugs) we gave him.  To make matters worse, however, he kept flipping himself over onto his back every time he woke up.  He can't sleep well on his back, so he would simply get mad instead.  ARGH.  It would take a good 15 minutes to get him settled, and then the whole pattern would start all over in another 30 minutes.  At 6:30am he decided he had had enough and wanted out of the bedroom.  Ty and I crawled ourselves out of bed and half played/half slept on the living room floor.   After about an hour of this, we succumbed to tiredness and put a movie in the laptop for him while we dozed in and out. Finally it was nap time and we all went back to bed!!!

It is times like these when I thank the goddess that we are graduate students and, at least this term, do not have to be at work at 8:00am in the morning.  I have so much more sympathy and appreciation for those of you out there that can't fall back on morning naps!!  PS - I don't have a picture of him in his co-sleeper, so you get a picture of him eating his toes in the bathtub instead.  :-)
